Breastfeeding: Days 3-5
Sometime between the second and third day after giving birth, mom’s milk will become more plentiful. This is what is described as mom’s milk ‘coming in’.
It can often happen suddenly but is sometimes more gradual. Some women feel that their breasts are fuller and might notice their baby swallowing more milk (not everyone can hear a baby swallow and that does not mean the baby isn’t getting milk).
Do a diaper check
A s a mom, soon after your milk comes in, your baby’s bowel movements will transition to a greenish-brownish colour and will take on a mustard yellow colour soon after. Wet diapers will become more plentiful as well.
