Physical Activity During Pregnancy
Being physically active throughout pregnancy is important for you and your growing baby.
The 2019 Canadian Guideline for Physical Activity Throughout Pregnancy recommends that all pregnant people should be physically active unless there is a medical reason that makes it unsafe to do. Read the guidelines for a full list of medical reasons.
Amount of Activity
- At least 2.5 hours (150 minutes) of moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) each week. MVPA means moving in a way that makes you feel warm and causes your heart rate and breathing to be faster.
- At least three days during the week, but every day is encouraged.
